Ferrero today is an Italian multinational specialized in the production of confectionery. The company was founded in Alba in 1946 by Pietro Ferrero. The products were also sold abroad. The first factories were opened in 1956 outside the Italian territory. From this moment on the expansion of the Ferrero brand took over the world. Over the years, the company has become global with branches and production sites throughout the world, while still producing products that are appreciated by everyone like Nutella.

The company’s history

Ferrero’s success started in the 1940s when Pietro Ferrero decided to open the first workshop in the city of Alba. The first product made was a hazelnut cream which was given the name of Giandujot. The typical carnival mask of Piedmont, Giuanduja, was depicted on the packaging. Hazelnuts were in fact, an abundant product in the area of Alba. By creating this cream, Pietro encouraged the use of local delicacies to create new types of products.

The Ferrero family was the first in Italy to open production facilities during the years immediately following the First World War. After the initial success in Italy, Michele Ferrero decided to expand his production abroad, inaugurating the first factory in Germany in 1956. In 1964, one of the products that today distinguishes the company worldwide was born. This was the “ Nutella”, introduced on the market by Ferrero in 1964.

The main Ferrero brand products

Over the years many products have been made under the Ferrero brand. The first ever was the Gianduia cream invented in 1946 by Pietro Ferrero. Once the industrial regime was reached, the company diversified its production with the introduction of other sweets, starting with those based on chocolate, followed by baked goods, sweets and drinks. Among these is the Estathé cold tea line.
