Establishes in 1967 with the “Wine Days“, the International Wine and Spirits Exhibition is organized every year in April at the Fiera di Verona area just outside the city, where the fair and all major events are hosted. The first edition was held in the Palazzo della Gran Guardia, on the main square of the city, but it was only in 1971 that the great festival took on the name with which it is currently known world-wide. Seven years later, in 1978, it achieved “international” status and opened its doors to the participation of foreign companies. Over time, the story of Vinitaly has always been enriched adding more events, becoming a long-awaited popular event by both Italian and foreigners. On the occasion, Verona is tainted in Vinitaly purple for four days: not only wine and food , but also music, shows and meetings in the company of well-known guests who until midnight tell the story of wine through design , fashion, architecture and art.
In addition to the exhibition area devoted to wine producers, the show consists of workshops, buyers clubs and special display areas designated to promoting Made in Italy and raise awareness for emerging companies on the market. In conjunction with the fair, the fuorisalone Vinitaly goes on in the historic center of the city in the Palazzo della Gran Guardia. Vinitaly for you is open to all wine enthusiasts, usually in the evening, and it includes tastings, a wine bar and live music events. The International Agro-Foods event is also noteworthy, which aims to promote olive-growing excellence and Italian and international food.
