Rosso Piceno

Rosso Piceno is a red wine that comes from the vineyards of the hills of region Marche, in the provinces of Ancona, Ascoli-Piceno, Fermo and Macerata.

To make this wine, that in 1969 has obtained the certification of Controlled Denomination of Origin, are used Montepulciano (35%-75%) and Sangiovese (30%-50%) grapes; sometimes are used other grapes of the region, but in a maximum percentage of 15%. Among production areas there are the provinces of di Ancona, Macerata, Ascoli Piceno, from the hills to Adriatic sea. There is also a Superiore version, produced in an area of thirteen districts in the province of Ascoli Piceno, ideal for the cultivation of Sangiovese and Montepulciano grapes.

Treatment: the grapes are macerated for a long time and ripen for nine months or a year.

Description: the colour is ruby red, with violet reflects. At the smell one can feel sweet spices among which vanilla, red fruits, plums. The taste is balanced, long lasting, full bodied, with licorice aftertaste.

Complement: it matches well with earth food, soups, boiled meats, slightly spicy dishes, cold cuts, red meats and sheep cheeses, fresh or aged.
