In this article I want to suggest an appealing and original journey into the fashion world, allowing you to discover the most interesting fashion museums in Italy: I’m sure you’ll be thrilled.

It is no coincidence that our country is one of the leading fashion industries in the world, thanks to great designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Trussardi, Prada and Armani.

As you well know, they are known for having created high quality luxury brands worldwide. I’m not just referring to clothes, but also to men and women’s shoes and accessories.

You should know that Italy is also full of museums, galleries, foundations and archives dedicated to fashion and costume and my aim is to show you some of them.

I would definitely start by telling you about the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, a cutting-edge location where every detail will show you the history of this great shoe artist.

But that’s not all: you will be able to admire the cork wedge patented in 1936, the most beautiful shoes worn by great American stars, up to the most recent creations of this designer.

The Museum is located in Florence, in Piazza Santa Trinità and can be visited every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The ticket costs 6.00 euros.

Let’s continue with the Museum of Fashion and Costume, located always in the beautiful Tuscan capital and precisely in Piazza de ‘Pitti.

You will like to know that it collects and exhibits the Italian heritage of high fashion, with the aim of offering an important contribution to all young designers and researchers interested in writing about the history of made in Italy fashion.

And it does not end here, because within this spectacular museum you will see a collection of clothes dating back to the sixteenth century.

The opening hours are every day from 8:15a.m. to 6:30p.m. except the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month and the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of the month.

The entrance ticket costs 7.00 euros.

Palazzo Morando –Costume Fashion Image

Let’s move to the capital of Italian fashion, Milan, to go and discover something about the historical collections of fashion costume preserved in the splendid Palazzo Morando.

It will be a unique and unforgettable experience to cross the threshold of this wonderful and impressive eighteenth-century building and to lose yourself in two very suggestive paths.

Not only will you be able to admire up close collections of clothes, accessories and uniforms dating back centuries, but also the extraordinary textile, artistic and historical heritage belonging to the Lombard capital.

I do not want to tell you anything else, I just want to advise you to visit Palazzo Morando and find out for yourself what else it has to show you.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 pm. Admission 5.00 euros.
