The 6th edition of the food and wine review in Pizzighettone re-opens its doors

The Christmas festivities are coming to an end and with them the end of tables laden with so many culinary delights typical of this period, but it is never too late to taste the typical products of our beautiful Italy.

In a few weeks, and precisely on January 21st  and 22nd  the 6th edition of the Buongusto d’Inverno food and wine festival will start again, promoted by Pizzighettone Fiere dell’Adda, in the province of Cremona.

Have you ever heard of it? It is an exciting journey through Italian tastes and flavors.

Not only that: in fact, in this fair dedicated to good food you will discover the excellences and typical products of Lombardy and other regions.

Are you ready to start this adventure full of flavors? Then continue to follow me because I’m going to tell you about the long journey of this event dedicated entirely to the best food and wine production, exclusively made in Italy.

The review will begin in conjunction with the festivities for the patron Saint of San Bassiano and will take place in the splendid location of the Casematte della Cerchia Muraria in Via Boneschi.

Admission to the Fair is free and schedules are:

  • January 20th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • January 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

To reach Pizzighettone and the location where the exhibition takes place, by train you get off at Ponte d’Adda Station.

By car, take the A1 Milan – Bologna motorway to the Casalpusterlengo exit and to Cremona or Piacenza Nord exit then Milano – Cremona direction.

Do you know how this interesting event entirely dedicated to good Italian food started? It was thought up by the Pizzighettone Fiera d’Adda, a company founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting tourism and the socio-cultural development of the country.

Promoting this review for the sixth consecutive year, they wanted to re-propose the well-tested appointment with the “Buon Gusto” Exhibition Market usually held in autumn, also in the winter.

And this is how it has given life to one of the most delicious exhibition networks, which is entirely covered, where selected exhibitors coming from all over Italy are ready to let you taste their products.

Inside the walls of Via Boneschi you can admire the best of food and wine production and agri-food presented by:

  • Consortia
  • Manufacturers
  • Farms and wineries
  • Specialized dealers.

But it does not end there, because the extraordinary scenery of Pizzighettone has in store for you and for all those who want to take part in the fair, another pleasant surprise

You will also be pleased to know that from January 19th  to 21st  the 10th  edition of the Tripa de San Basian, organized by the Pizzighettone Lions Club, will also begin.

In the wonderful location of the ancient walls you can taste the excellent tripe and many other specialties of the place cooked on the spot!

These are two truly extraordinary and not to be missed events, which I am sure will make many Italian families happy.

Discovering Pizzighettone, homeland of the “Buongusto d’inverno

I could only finish this article by recommending a visit to the charming Pizzighettone, whose origins are linked to the river Adda, which still divides its historical center in two.

I want to show you that this town has the only, practically intact, circle of walls, in the province of Cremona and is one of the most impressive among those that survived in the entire region.

I’m talking about a rare example of military architecture that arose in the early years of the Renaissance and was gradually perfected.

I am sure you will be literally amazed to see the historic center of Pizzighettone, divided by the river into two separate areas connected by a bridge.

You can admire the capital of the city on the left bank and the delightful village of Gera on the right.

But it is within its imposing walls that the village as if by magic is transformed into an immense and unique tavern ready to welcome those with fine taste.
