Italy has long been able to boast true excellence in beer production, competing now on equal terms with the most important traditions of Northern Europe. Let’s take a look at the latest Italian artisan beers.
As a demonstration of how beer has become a leading drink, more and more appreciated and followed by enthusiasts and connoisseurs, for some years Slow Food has dedicated a special “Guide to Italian beers“, becoming an undisputed reference point. The prize awarded to beers and breweries are the “snails”, received by the beers featured here, one for every region. But not only. Events like Beer Attraction have been working for years to identify the best breweries and the best Italian productions, highlighting authentic masterpieces from the hands of our local brewers.
The advantages of craft Beer
The beers of Italian production that stand out for their qualities are, of course, artisan products. This means that they are beers that do not undergo any pasteurization processes that distinguish industrial production, and this gives life to a beer that stays “alive”. It is enhanced by increasingly careful choices regarding fermentation procedures and the choice of hops and malts. Another aspect of particular importance is that linked to the possibility of combining beers to the most varied Italian food and wine products. In fact, beer producers are paying more attention to the preparation of specialties capable of enhancing the most important dishes and foods of the Italian culinary tradition.
Veneto
In Campodarsego (Pd) we have Cr / Ak Brewery, a brewery that has won countless awards in recent years. Here Mundaka is produced, a clear Ipa with great impact and aroma.
Lombardy
The Wave Runner is a light beer produced by the Hammer Brewery of Villa D’Adda (Bg), an amber beer of American Ipa inspiration. Also in Lombardy the Lambrate Brewery stands out with its Helznut Porter, a dark that has hints of hazelnut, cocoa and caramel.
Tuscany
The Momus is an excellence produced by the Bruton Brewery of Lucca, a beer that harks back to the Belgian abbey tradition, dedicated to the master Giacomo Puccini. La Mancina, instead, produced by the Forte di Pietrasanta Brewery, is a light beer of Belgian inspiration, with a high fermentation and a high degree of alcohol.
Lazio
The Fiorenero Lab Brewery in Albano Laziale produces a remarkable Tommy’s Porter of Anglo-Saxon inspiration: high fermentation.
Sardegna
In Selargius (Ca) the Mezzavia Brewery stands out for its Dopo la tristezza (After the sadness), inspired by a poem by Umberto Saba.
