The Orrido Panoramic Path winds through one of the most fascinating natural areas of the Aosta Valley. It is no coincidence that this region is known for its alpine beauty with breathtaking landscapes.

We are in Pré-Saint-Didier, a town in the Aosta Valley, also known for the path of the Orrido, made unique by the scenic walkway from which you can enjoy the view of one of the most beautiful canyons in the area, more than 160 meters deep.

Where is the Pré-Saint-Didier Gorge?

We are in Pré-Saint-Didier, a town in the north-western area of the Aosta Valley, not far from both the Swiss border and the French border, at over a thousand meters above sea level.

More specifically, it is located in the upper valley of the Dora Baltea, within the picturesque Valdigne at the foot of Mont Blanc. It is here that the Dora Verney stream joins the Dora Baltea River.

Pré Saint Didier gorge, the scenic route

The Orrido Trail begins at the foot of Mont Crammont, about two hundred metres from the Pré-Saint-Didier Spa. This path that from the river reaches the mountain uphill follows an itinerary that winds through a suggestive wood that flanks the road that runs along the mountain.

During the walk, the hiker can admire the beauty of the local flora and fauna. The area is rich in plant species, including ancient trees, wild flowers and small shrubs, as well as a wide variety of birds and wild animals.

As an alternative to this an uphill route and characterized by irregular terrain, you can start from the Mont Blanc Adventure Park. Just a few kilometres from Pré-Saint-Didier, this park allows you to start from a flat and almost flat area.

The most striking moment of the entire route is definitely the panoramic walkway over the canyon dug by Dora Verney. It is a walkway with cantilevered beams positioned about one hundred and sixty meters high.

The rock walls that rise steeply on both sides, together with the echo of the waterfalls and the noise of the moving waters, create a unique atmosphere. In addition, along the route, there are also several viewpoints, from which you can admire the entire surrounding landscape and enjoy a view of the mountains and the valley below.

The more adventurous can walk the canyon using the zipline, a pulley system that transports visitors from side to side hanging from a cable and suspended in a vacuum.

How much does the entrance to the Orrido Panoramic Path cost?

The path of the Orrido Pré-Saint-Didier is accessible to all: the path, including the panoramic walkway, is free. On the contrary, the experience with zipline is paid.

It is always open, except for the winter due to the potential danger of the snow laying.
