Online “Cultura Borghi”, the official portal of the Ministry of Culture to map and enhance PNRR projects related to the regeneration of Italian villages.
An Italy that starts from its most fragile and fascinating places: the villages. This is the heart of the digital platform Cultura Borghi (borghi.cultura.gov.it), launched by the Ministry of Culture to support and monitor projects financed through the PNRR Cultura, in particular under the Investment 2.1 – Attractiveness of Borghi.
An ambitious project, born to give new life to hundreds of small towns often forgotten, combating depopulation and promoting sustainable economic and social growth.
A portal to guide the future of villages
Through an interactive map, the portal allows you to explore 245 cultural projects already underway in 328 Italian municipalities, with a total investment of more than one billion euros. Of these, as many as 200 million are destined directly to the entrepreneurial world, thanks to the measure “Imprese Borghi”, designed to stimulate new economic activities in the territories involved.
But the platform is not just a showcase. Inside it find space:
๐ Updates on events, calls and services
๐ An e-learning area dedicated to training on cultural regeneration
๐ An operational space reserved for the beneficiary municipalities for the exchange of good practices
A dynamic, transparent and accessible tool, designed to support those who work every day to bring back life, culture and innovation in the countryโs smaller centers.
NRRP Culture: how Investment 2.1 works
The Cultura Borghi project is part of Mission 1, Component 3 of PNRR – Culture and Tourism 4.0. The intervention is divided into two main lines:
Line A: 21 regional pilot projects, with funding of 20 million each, targeting villages in strong demographic decline. It aims at the creation of cultural, tourist and social services capable of reactivating communities.
Line B: at least 229 local interventions in municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants, financed for a total of 580 million, of which 200 million for the support of enterprises.
All projects must respect the principles of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, universal accessibility and active involvement of local communities.
Goal 2026: a milestone to change the face of the country
Activities must be completed by June 2026, as set out in the Next Generation EU guidelines. The municipal and regional selections took place between 2021 and 2022, and today, through Cultura Borghi, the route enters its implementation phase. A concrete opportunity to enhance the widespread heritage of Italy more authentic and less known, creating development through culture, enterprise and participation.
