Boario thermal baths: an Italian Spa complex

Boario, fraction of Darfo Boario Terme, in the Camonica Valley and north of Lake Iseo, is particularly renowned for the spa of the same name.

The use of the Boario thermal waters began in the mid-nineteenth century, attracting the attention of illustrious guests such as Alessandro Manzoni, author of I Promessi sposi. From the following century, Boario Terme became an elite vacation place, thanks to the inauguration of the Grand Hotel des Thermes. Later In 2007, the Baths were subjected to a renovation plan, re-launching it as an attraction pole.

There are four natural springs inside the Park of the Terme di Boario, each one characterized by different mineral concentrations and beneficial features: Antica Fonte, Igea, Fausta and Boario. At the center stands the Ancient Fountain Pavilion, a domed loggia, built in the early twentieth century in Art Nouveau style by architect Amerigo Marazzi. The waters that flow in the area contain high percentages of mineral salts and iron, which make them particularly suitable as dietary supplements. The complex includes a new spa, with its paths, wellness centers and spa treatment activities, which are held at the Centro Cure Violati. The Spa & Wellness at the Terme di Boario is an extremely welcoming environment, ideal for rediscovering relaxation and wellbeing. It offers health paths and includes two thermal pools, an outdoor pool with whirlpool and views of the Park, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, emotional showers, Kneipp path and salt room.

The entire spa complex is ideal not only for those interested in spa treatments, but also as a regenerating holiday destination. An aspect that takes particular care in the new space Remise en Forme, which uses all the beneficial properties of the thermal waters. The Thermal Park extends for around 130 thousand square meters: a silent and uncontaminated place, but also a theater for shows and events. Also ideal for children, the park in fact offers opportunities for sports, entertainment and music.

Not far from Boario is the Municipal park of the rock carvings of Luine. The place is full of large sandstone rocks that bear some of the most interesting rock engravings in Val Camonica. In the Park you can see, among other things, the so-called Masso dei Corni freschi, which stands out for the halberd figures engraved on it. Near the megalith, you can visit the Archeopark, a theme park dedicated to Alpine prehistory. The activities of the park showcase the conditions and life techniques of the peoples who lived in the area during prehistory, with laboratories and archaeological-didactic and experimental archeology courses.
