Lake Tovel: How to get there

How do I get to Tovel? It can be reached by car by taking the provincial road 14 of Val di Tovel from Tuenno and arriving right near the lake.

Once you get under the Tovel Lake, you stop at the parking and walk a short stretch of road until you reach the banks of the water.

From the Lake to the Tovel Valley

The Lake Tovel is the destination of hiking autumn because it becomes a real painting, but also the valley that hosts it is spectacular.

From the Brenta Dolomites surrounding the lake, the valley winds for about seventeen kilometers between the massif of the Campa and Monte Peller.

The Tovel Valley retains a wild character that fascinates and arouses emotions, especially if you love nature and love walking along the paths.

Where else to see the foliage effect in Val di Non?

The Val di Non is nature, landscapes, history, traditions and much more and for this it would be too much to think to visit it all at once.

Those who have enjoyed the foliage effect of the Tovel Lake can admire the autumn colors in other parts of the Val di Non.

The Fresna Pass is perfect because of the fields with their larches and their huts that offer a breathtaking scenery. All framed by the zigzag effect of the mountain peaks.

Alternatively there are the Malosco Rules, that is the meadows from which hay was obtained for the animals that extend surrounded by secular larches. The colours of the larch trees and the rowan berries of the gardens of the surrounding huts create a unique landscape in which Monte Luco is the backdrop.

The colors of autumn can also be admired along the ancient path Sporminore Tracciolo characterized by a large number of beeches that are colored red.

Alternatively, there is Lake Tret, , a pond located a thousand and six hundred meters above the village of Tret: larches are oriented downwards giving shades ranging from yellow to orange.

What to do at Lake Tovel and surroundings?

Fill up the autumn colors is just one of the activities to do in Val di Non: there are some unmissable places if you decide to visit this “earthly paradise”.

Near Sanzeno there is a path carved mainly in the rock that reaches the suggestive sanctuary of San Romedio. It is an architecture of Christian art of the medieval period dedicated to the hermit and located on a rock spur more than seventy meters high.

Those who love adventure should definitely visit the Canyon Rio Sass, a natural wonder of about a thousand and two hundred meters made of rocks, suspended walkways and steps.

What to eat in the Val di Non

The excursion to Lake Tovel can be enriched by a culinary experience among the typical dishes of Trentino. Among the most popular are speck, carne salada, canederli, strangolapreti alla trentina, Tyrolean spatzle, potato tortei, barley soup, strudel and buckwheat cake.
