Salone del Gusto: the world on the table

Love the earth“, that is the common thread of the 2016 edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, the most important international event dedicated to food culture, created by Slow Food! The appointment is in Turin, September 22 to 26, to live five days of celebration, food and events around the city.

A large market with exhibitors from the five continents and the Slow Food Products, many events to discover the culinary riches of the world, meeting spaces, the forum to give voice to the food communities, taste workshops and a lot more, this is the Salone del gusto that involves 1000 exhibitors from all over the world, 400 chefs, 300 producers, 180 Italian Slow Food and 150 international.

This year, for the first time, the event will move from aseptic halls of the Lingotto, the seat of the previous editions, to reach the heart of the city, the streets, squares and historical places of the city of Piedmont, transformed for the occasion in a big stage.

The event also changes name, bringing up the Mother Earth, to emphasize the centrality of the Community of food and the important role now assigned to those around the world who grow and produce food, highlighting values ​​such as social responsibility and sustainability. And for the 2016 edition, no ticket!

Admission to the show is free, except for a few events such as Laboratori del Gusto, Appuntamenti a Tavola and Scuola di Cucina. A big party expected by all over the world, that every two years attracts the attention and enthusiasm of thousands of tourists and foodies; a nice way to celebrate the twenty years of Salone del Gusto and thirty of Slow Food.

But where exactly the event will take place? The center of the event, one that will host the forum, the market and the events for the little ones cared by Slow Food Educazione will be the Parco del Valentino and its medieval village. At the Royal Palace of Turin, and in particular in the apartment of the Regina Elena and in the yard, there will be wine exibition while the Carignano Theatre will stage the many expressions of the coffee. At the Circolo dei Lettori you can investigate some issues with taste workshops dedicated to exotic products, from kangaroo meat to chillies.

We continue with Piazzale Valdo Fusi which hosts the Maestri del Gusto and the excellence of Turin and its province. Via Po for the entire duration of the show will turn into Via ice cream and honey. Another historic site in the city, the halls of Aste Bolaffi, will be the perfect stage to meetings of Mixology, while at the Eataly Torino Lingotto will be held the traditional Appuntamenti a tavola (dinner dates). Not to miss also the paths, exhibitions and screenings in unique places such as the Egyptian Museum, the Museum of cinema and the royal residences just outside the town.
