Wine and wineyards of Marche

In the region of Marche the activity of grape cultivation begins with the ancient Greek people coming from Siracusa, and strengthens in the Roman age, when the name of Piceno wine becomes known in the whole Empire. The region offers a great variety of grapes and wines. From the physical point of view the region adjoins Adriatic Sea in the East and this, along with the presence of mountains, creates a particular weather that reflects itself in the production of typical wines. Wines are mainly produced in small wine cellars that, though, can count on a long-date experience, transmitted generation after generation.
