Today there are 33 departments, 215 undergraduate courses, 72 masters, 45 research doctorates and numerous specialization schools. Still today, this institute is one of the most prestigious in Europe. It was founded in 1810 as a branch of the University of Paris. The school offers scientific and humanistic teaching courses. Today it is inside the historical buildings of the city where there is a library and numerous research centers and laboratories. Many illustrious former students attended this institute. Among the main ones there are three Nobel Prizes and two Presidents of the Republic. These are respectively: Carducci, Fermi, Rubbia, Gronchi and Ciampi.

The Polytechnic of Milan

This is the first university institute established in this capital city of Lombardy. It was founded in 1863. It is divided into 4 schools which are:

  • civil engineering
  • environmental engineering
  • industrial and information engineering
  • architecture and design.

 

These are distributed in the Bovisa district and in the city of study in Milan. There are also 5 branch offices distributed throughout the region. They are:

  • Como
  • Lecco
  • Cremona
  • Mantova
  • Piacenza.
