The prison museum and the Ice and Snow exhibition

Before showing you what you can see during your visit to the Snow and Ice Show, I would like to tell you something about the location where it was set up: the Prison Museum.

You will  be interested to know that this suggestive structure is located inside a building that until the end of the 60s housed the prison of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. But that’s not all, after having been abandoned for some decades, the current Museum has been completely renovated and dedicated to hosting the most famous events in the area. And now back to the event dedicated to the most practiced winter sports in this magnificent Italian town, once you cross the threshold of the Museum you will be guided along an exciting journey, Just  think, several rooms have been set up which are dedicated to some typically winter disciplines:

  • Downhill skiing
  • Cross country skiing
  • Jumping
  • Ice Hockey
  • Speed skating

But I’ll tell you more, there is also a section dedicated to the chemical/water weather phenomena, a truly exciting path that tells the story and technology of the sport! What else is there to say? It will be a real journey from the past till today that will allow you to know how skates used to be made and the techniques used today.

What to see in Asiago in occasion of the winter sport exhibition

Participating in the Snow and Ice Show will be a unique opportunity to admire the beauty of the place.

Asiago rises to 1001 meters above sea level and is without doubt the most important locality of the Sette Comuni dell’Altipiano.

Believe me: there really are many historical-naturalistic points of interest and landscape beauties that will leave you literally ecstatic.

If you’re wondering what to visit in Asiago, I suggest you don’t miss a visit to the Town Hall, a building built in white and red marble and equipped with a bell tower.

Very beautiful is also the Cathedral of San Matteo, which houses two works of inestimable value, made by Giovanni da Ponte the Younger and Giovanni da Ponte the Elder.

In my opinion, a stop in Corso IV Novembre and in the two main Squares is a must! You can’t miss a little shopping and a quick taste of typical products at one of the many dining options in the town?

Apart from Asiago, I want to give you some advice on what to visit in Italy and in particular in the province of Vicenza.

I would like to start with Marostica, a beautiful city known as the City of Chess and full of breathtaking landscapes, to continue with Bassano del Grappa, Breganze and then Thiene.

Now it’s up to you to find out the others, are you ready to go?
