The history of Ferrazzano
The charming village of Ferrazzano has its roots in the Sannita people but, with the advent of the Romans and their submission, had to bow to the new hegemony. The Romans favored the repopulation of the area by transferring a colony of Liguri Bebiani, thus promoting the revival of local agriculture.
Founded in this strategic position, except for the megalithic walls and some finds kept in museums, it is not possible to admire the traces of its most remote past. The remains of the oldest part of the village were incorporated into the seventeenth-century houses.
The territory, originally part of the Duchy of Benevento, passed successively under the rule of the castaldato of Boiano, and then was incorporated into the county of Molise.
The village is known above all for being the birthplace of the paternal great-grandparents of a world famous Hollywood actor: the link between Ferrazzano and De Niro.

Ferrazzano is part of a region renowned for its excellent cuisine, its typical products and its fine wines.
Food lovers can taste local cold cuts such as the sausage “ferrazzanese” flavored with fennel seeds and the soppressata and typical dishes such as mbaniccia (granola pizza enriched with vegetables and boiled pork) and torcinelli (dish made of lamb guts).
