Where is Monte San Primo? We are in Lombardy. Monte San Primo is part of the Prealpi Comasche and dominates Lake Como
The hike through woods, meadows and chestnut groves to reach the summit allows you to observe the branches of Lake Como surrounded by the mountains to the north and the reliefs of Brianza, the Po Valley and the silhouette of the Apennines to the south.
How to climb Monte San Primo
You can reach the panoramic peak of Monte San Primo through various paths: some with a slight slope suitable for beginners and for those who want to reach the top of Monte San Primo with children and others with a higher altitude difference suitable for the more experienced.
Monte San Primo da Sormano
From the town of Sormano or from the Pian del Tivano you can reach Colma di Sormano located over a thousand meters high. There, there is a dirt track heading north that passes Mount Roncaglia and allows you to reach the Alpe Spessola identifiable by a majestic beech.

Monte San Primo da Pian Rancio
The top of Monte San Primo can also be reached by taking a path that starts from Pian Rancio. From there, take a stretch that points towards Alpe Borgo crossing the fields of Monte Ponciv.
After reaching Alpe Borgo, then, you head towards the road that separates to the right and walk until you exit the vegetation and get on the slope of Monte Ponciv.
The route continues towards Alpe Terrabiotta and connects with the dirt path connected to the Colma di Sormano that allows you to reach the summit continuing along the dirt road that rises gradually or along the ridge characterized by ups and downs and breathtaking scenery.
Monte San Primo from Martina Refuge
How to reach Rifugio Martina? You can reach the top by climbing up the north side of Monte San Primo, going along the flat road first unpaved and then cemented through the woods.
After walking through the woods and meadows, you reach the Martina Refuge located over a thousand and three hundred meters above sea level. There, you can also refresh or rest.
From the refuge, then, take a stone staircase and continue along a meadow before entering a path in the woods increasingly narrow and steep as you approach the top. It is tiring in the last stretch, but it is also the shortest of the paths.
