The historic Amerigo Vespucci made a stop at the Beverello pier in Naples, greeted by an uninterrupted flow of visitors that has exceeded the thousand presences per hour, tangible sign of mutual affection between the city and the famous ship-school.
The Secretary of Defense Matteo Perego di Cremnago, after having explored its interior, called the event «a perfect marriage»: Naples, with its artistic and cultural heritage, and Amerigo Vespucci, who has just completed two years of travelling around the world, Together they embody the image of Italian excellence. «Here – it has added – is renewed the embrace between a millennial city and a ship symbol of our marine».
The day began with the official recognition of Vespucci by the nautical circles of Campania, followed by a teaching visit promoted by the Francesca Rava Foundation. On board were the boys of the project “Blue Bags”, an initiative with the Navy that offers young people in situations of fragility new tools to build their own future.
With Naples as the setting, Vespucci continues its mission of ambassador of values of solidarity and Italian maritime tradition.
