The reverse has begun for one of the most anticipated events of the year: from 17 to 23 September 2024, Milan Fashion Week will take place. Between previews and expectations, Milan is preparing to host a week of fashion shows and events that will dictate the trends for the next summer season.
Fashion and lifestyle experts and enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the celebration of creativity and design that will anticipate women’s fashion trends for spring-summer next year.
Previews Milan Fashion Week: unpublished shows and returns expected
The Milan Fashion Week in September will be a succession of appointments, even if the eyes will be on the stylistic choices of some of the most influential fashion houses in the world, such as Fendi, Cavalli, Prada, Moschino, Gucci and Ferragamo.
The week will start on Tuesday, September 17 with fashion shows of brands such as Fendi, Marni and Alberta Ferretti. Wednesday 18 will be an intense day, with shows of Boss, Jil Sander and Roberto Cavalli. On Thursday 19 there will be the events of Max Mara, Prada, Moschino and Emporio Armani while on Friday 20 it will be under the banner of brands such as Tod’s, Gucci, Versace and Missoni. Saturday 21 will be held the fashion shows of Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Diesel and Bottega Veneta. The week will end on Sunday 22 with the participation of emerging signatures.
Among the most anticipated new arrivals on the calendar stand out Susan Fang, supported by Dolce&Gabbana, and Federico Cina, supported by Camera Moda Fashion Trust. Chiccomao and Phan Dang Hoang will also make their debut in the Milan event.
On the front of the big returns, there is a lot of anticipation for the collections of The Attico and Laura Biagiotti, whose link with the event continues to consolidate.
The digital calendar will give space for the first time designers Nicola Bacchilega (Defaïence) and Francesco Murano (recipient of the prestigious Camera Moda Fashion Trust Grant 2024). To complete the scene, there will be Jacob Cohën, Rè Shuǐ and ViaPiave33, opening new spaces for creative and technological exploration.
The Milan Fashion Week celebrates milestones
This Milan Fashion Week will be the occasion to celebrate significant anniversaries, such as the 50th anniversary of Iceberg, the half century of the maison Laura Biagiotti since its first show and the tenth anniversary of Redemption.
Vogue Italia will also take advantage of the Milan Fashion Week in September to celebrate its sixties with the exhibition “Sixty Years of Vogue Italia – Sessant’anni di Futuro”, highlighting social and fashion developments through its historical covers.
The side events of Milan Fashion Week
There will be side events, such as the Fashion Hub (dedicated to exhibitions and workshop sessions), the Milano Moda Graduate show (which will give visibility to new talents in fashion made in Italy), the Fashion Zoo event (organized by MFW New Wave to present emerging Chinese designers) and the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards (which will award the most innovative and sustainable projects).
The program also includes the award ceremony for the Masters of Excellence Award (which will honor artisans who carry on traditions with a contemporary eye) and the Black Carpet Awards (which celebrate diversity and integration).
What to expect from Milan Fashion Week
Expectations for Milan Fashion Week in September are high, considering the continuous change and evolution of the fashion industry.
The focus will be on new collections, ecological production and the use of sustainable materials. With events such as the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards and the presence of projects at the Fashion Hub, in fact, it is expected that many brands present collections featuring recycled materials, natural colors and low environmental impact production processes, Contributing to the construction of a fashion as a vehicle for social change.
This Milan Fashion Week will follow the wind of inclusion of recent years, bringing on the catwalk an increasingly wide representation of faces and cultures. It is no coincidence that the calendar includes events such as the Black Carpet Awards.
It is expected a further integration of technology through the union between physical and digital; in fact, through the official website of the brand or social channels, even those who will not be present at events can attend live shows.
The great absent from Milan Fashion Week
The big absentee of this fashion week will be Giorgio Armani, busy to show the spring summer 2025 collection in New York on the occasion of the opening of the store in Madison Avenue. At the Milan Fashion Week, however, there will be the Emporio Armani show.
There will be no Blumarine (the change of creative direction) or Tom Ford (due to the departure of the creative director of the brand).
