Italian marble, strategic alliance between Verona and Sicily – The Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, sen. Adolfo Urso, met with the president at Mimit
of the Verona Marble District, Filiberto Semenzin, and the president of the Marble District of
Sicily, Giovanbattista Mazzara. At the heart of the interview is the twinning between the two industrial districts,
aimed at starting a strategic and synergistic collaboration between territories historically suited to the
production and processing of marble.

“This is a concrete opportunity to strengthen the entire marble supply chain, expression
of Italian manufacturing excellence, and enhance skills, territories and a quality that the
world recognizes us,”
Minister Urso highlighted.
The mayor of Custonaci, Fabrizio Fonte, and the president of the Polo also participated in the meeting
Mechatronics Sicily,Antonello Mineo, and the mayor of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, Roberto Zorzi.

During the comparison, the opportunities offered by the Regulation (EU) were also explored in depth
2023/2411 on non-agricultural PGIs, operational from 1° December 2025, extending to products
craft and industrial the protection already provided for geographical indications in the sector
agri-food, opening up new prospects for the protection and valorization of Italian marble.
