Discovering the white truffle of Alba

From 12 October to 8 December returns the International Fair of the White Truffle of Alba, now in its ninety-fourth edition.

The event will focus on an innovative theme, natural intelligence, with the aim of enhancing tradition in a contemporary perspective, always respecting the territory and its resources, as well as understanding how nature’s intelligence can help us in the management of artificial intelligence.

The 2024 program is really varied and includes show cooking with renowned Italian chefs, initiatives for the valorization of local resources, workshops but also folk events such as the donkey palio, musical events and spaces dedicated to children.

What is the White Truffle Fair

The White Truffle Fair of Alba is one of the most important gastronomic events in Italy that attracts thousands of visitors every year thanks to the fascinating mix of tradition, innovation and quality offered by the program.

The 2024 edition is certainly a special one that stands out for its intention to celebrate tradition while looking to the future, through the theme of natural intelligence, symbolized by white truffle, Connected with the artificial intelligence that is permeating every area of our society.

The strong innovative footprint of this year reflects the ideas and aspirations of the personalities most involved in the organization of the Fair, such as Liliana Allena – president of the Alba Fair Association – who, on the event states:

«If the Fair has a history almost centenary, it owes to the great ability to remain faithful to its origins while managing to renew itself edition after edition, always in step with the current. This year, which will bring us to the milestone of 94 years, will focus on two types of intelligence: natural and artificial, truffle culture and technology.»

Innovation, therefore, and many innovations that will allow visitors to live an experience rich in tradition, taste, quality, fun, culture and folklore.

White Truffle Fair of Alba: new for 2024

Many the new features that characterize the ninety-fourth edition of the White Truffle Fair 2024 including the shift of the beginning of the season from 21 September to 1 October, as a result of climate change in progress.

Another novelty of this edition is the renovation of the courtyard of La Maddalena, home to the world truffle market, which will amaze visitors with its completely new appearance.

In addition, this edition of the Fair will also mark the beginning of a new project in collaboration with Japan for which, some important Japanese chefs led by Luca Fantin del Bulgari, will be hosted in the Albese with the aim of a mutual contamination between the culinary tradition of the Langhe and Roero and that of Japanese imprint.

The theme of natural intelligence at the White Truffle Fair in Alba 2024

As already announced, the 2024 edition will focus on the theme of Natural Intelligence, explored from the definition of intelligence offered by Treccani for which “intelligence is a set of mental and psychological abilities that allow man to adapt and modify his environment”.

This concept also extends to nature, precisely because of its great capacity for adaptation and resistance, with particular attention to the white truffle of Alba which plays a crucial role for soil ecosystems.

Natural intelligence to fuel the climate change debate, in support of greater sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

During the nine weeks of the fair, there will be in-depth discussions on the relationship between natural and artificial intelligence, with the aim of identifying how the former can help us to manage the latter, Making sure that he can express his full potential within today’s society.
