The city of San Daniele del Friuli will host, from June 21st to 25th the 35th edition of Aria di Festa, one of the recurring and most anticipated events in Friuli in June. This is a food and wine festival dedicated to the San Daniele DOP Prosciutto, a typical Italian ham representing a specialty exported all over the world.
Aria di Festa, like every year, animates the Friulan town with its extensive tasting program, cooking classes and show cooking, cultural events, meetings and debates, shows and guided tours. During the 2019 edition, various activities have been planned which will allow you to delve into the depths of the production of this delicacy, and become true San Daniele prosciutto experts.
The Tasting Paths that are organized on the occasion of this famous event, will teach the art of recognizing, tasting, serving and preserving the famous San Daniele Prosciutto in the best possible way, and also how to use it in the kitchen in a thousand gourmet recipes.
During this festival, the local ham factories will also open their doors, and it will be possible to discover the production phases of this specialty thanks to guided tours organized for the most curious visitors.
The food and wine stands set up inside the Parco del Castello offer the opportunity to taste the San Daniele ham proposed in combination with wines, beers and other typical local products. This specialty, in fact, becomes the protagonist of various menus and preparations: it starts with sandwiches, passing to combinations with typical cheeses, buffalo mozzarella, fruit, and to finish with first courses.
The Cooking Courses and Show Cooking, on the other hand, were designed to teach how to enhance the extraordinary properties of San Daniele PDO Prosciutto, with the involvement of great chefs such as Bruno Barbieri, Alessandro Borghese and Antonia Klugmann.
The Aria di Festa program also includes a series of tourist itineraries on foot or by bicycle to discover the artistic and cultural beauties of the city of San Daniele and its surroundings.
Guided tours, on the other hand, include the discovery of the Ancient Guarneriana Library and the Territory Museum. A historic train consisting of a steam locomotive with a “hundred door” carriage allows you to reach the festival starting from Treviso Station, along the Gemona-Sacile, to the Cornino Station. From here a shuttle bus will take you to your destination.
We at Italian Traditions hope to have made you a little curious about the event that will take place in San Daniele in the next few days, so there is nothing left but to organize your visit.
