The 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival will be held from 1 to 11 September 2021 at the Lido of Venice. The opening film will be Pedro Almodóvar’s Madres paralelas, while Roberto Andò’s The Hidden Child will be the closing one. The international jury of the competition will be chaired by the South Korean Bong Joon-ho, the director of the film Parasites, which in 2020 won the Oscar for best film and best director, as well as the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
The Venice International Film Festival, with its much coveted Golden Lions, is one of the most anticipated events dedicated to Italian and world cinema in the world. During the exhibition both previews and promos are organized, in addition to the classic event of awards, acknowledgments and retrospectives of maximum interest for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge in terms of cinematography, looking at the greatest figures of the past and the cult films they have forever marked the history of cinema.

The 78th Venice International Film Festival will take place, following all the anti Covid-19 regulations, in a succession of events, red carpets, awards ceremonies, previews and retrospectives. The fair will be held in Venice Lido and can be visited by anyone with tickets to do so. Some events, for example presentations / previews, will have limited access exclusively to invited guests, who could be celebrities as well as art critics or representatives of TV and press offices.
Children under the age of 6 are not admitted to the screenings and some films may be banned for children under 14. Every single user can choose to buy tickets for the individual screenings in the various theatres, with an indicative cost varying from € 8 ( for the reduced) to 12 €, except for the Sala Giardino (fixed cost € 5), or can buy the season tickets. It will be possible to buy season tickets for individual theatres, at very affordable prices (between € 20 and € 40, depending on the option chosen) or full season tickets for the whole gallery, with a much higher cost but with guaranteed privileges. The costs, in this case, range between € 650 and € 1,600. For more information visit this web page.

Where to sleep? What to eat during the International Film Festival?
If you are expecting to see at least one film at the 78th Venice Film Festival, you can easily stay in any of the hotels or B & Bs in the city. The Lido area where the exhibition takes place is in fact easily reachable thanks to public transport, and Venice itself is small enough to be easily explored on foot. We recommend the famous Rosa Salva Hotel and the hotel Nani Mocenigo Palace. If you want to taste the typical cuisine, we definitely recommend a nice dish of risi and bisi (rice and peas typical of Veneto) or a nice polenta and schie, the shrimp typical of the lagoon.
