Il Gambero Rosso has recently revealed the winners of the Tre Bicchieri 2025, the highest award given by the prestigious guide “Vini d’Italia”. This year, 498 wines were awarded, with 52 wineries that are winning for the first time this coveted title.
Piedmont and Tuscany are confirmed at the top in terms of number of awards, with 91 and 75 wines respectively. In Piedmont, the success of whites stands out, especially Timorasso, while in Tuscany Chianti Classico dominates the scene with over 20 award-winning labels, accompanied by excellence from Montalcino, Bolgheri and San Gimignano.
Among the new wineries awarded, emerge realities such as Tenuta di Arceno with its Arcanum 2020 and Guado al Melo with the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Atis 2021, which represent innovation and emerging quality in the Italian wine panorama.
Friuli Venezia Giulia stands out with 25 awarded wines, of which 24 white. The only red wine to be recognised is the 2021 Schioppettino from the Teresa Raiz di Povoletto winery, underlining the area’s vocation for high-quality white wines.
Despite the climatic and production challenges, regions such as Apulia and Calabria have achieved excellent results. In Puglia, the Amativo Cantele 2022 is distinguished by intensity and harmony, while in Calabria, the Cirò Rosso Superiore Duca Sanfelice Riserva 2022 from Librandi tells the story and character of the territory.
A significant aspect of the 2025 edition is the focus on affordable quality wines. There are 44 labels awarded with the Tre Bicchieri available for less than 15 euros, including the Dolcetto di Ovada 2022 by Tacchino and the Lambrusco di Sorbara L’Eclisse 2023 by Alberto Paltrinieri, demonstrating that Italian wine excellence is within everyone’s reach.
