For those who want to leave the traditional home dinner and immerse themselves in a festive atmosphere, the Italian squares offer a range of concerts and free events that promise to make the arrival of the new year unforgettable. We have selected for you the main events, which will close on the last night of the year.
Rome: lights and an international star at the Circus Massimo
The capital is preparing to host one of the most anticipated events in Italy, at Circo Massimo. After some controversy related to the presence of Tony Effe, the Roman stage will see performing artists of great caliber as Gabry Ponte, PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi), the Orchestraccia and the Popular Orchestra La Notte della Taranta. The special guest of the evening will be Boy George, who with his Culture Club will give a memorable performance to greet the old year.
Turin: elegance and refinement in Piazza Castello
In Turin, the magic of New Year’s Eve will be lit up in Piazza Castello with a lineup that ranges from the sophisticated tones of Malika Ayane, also host of the evening, to the performances of Rose Villain, Morcheeba, Giove and The Sweet Life Society. On stage also Marco Maccarini and Davide D’Urso, ready to entertain the audience with irony and style.
Naples: a tribute to the great Pino Daniele
Piazza del Plebiscito will be transformed into a large open-air theatre for an exciting tribute to Pino Daniele, the timeless symbol of Neapolitan music. Artists such as Loredana Bertè, James Senese, Sal Da Vinci and many others will take turns on the stage for five hours of pure musical magic.
Genoa: three days of shows for all tastes
Genoa is not satisfied with just one evening, but celebrates the New Year with three days of events in Piazza De Ferrari. It starts on December 29 with the Deejay Time Show, to relive the dance successes of the 90s. On December 30 will be the turn of rap music, while New Year’s Eve will see the stars Alessandra Amoroso, La Rappresentante di Lista and the Genoese Ex-Otago.
Southern Italy: between Atmosphere and Great Voices
In Foggia, Francesca Michielin will illuminate Piazza Cavour with her powerful voice, while in Cosenza, Achille Lauro will perform in Piazza dei Bruzi. In Salerno, the splendid Giorgia will bring elegance and class to the suggestive Piazza della Libertà, giving the public a unique moment to start the new year.
Verona: the Big & Bang in Piazza Bra
In Verona, Piazza Bra will light up from 23:00 with the performances of X Factor 2024 talents, followed by a dj set ’70 ’80’ that will keep energy high until late at night. For those who cannot attend, the event will be broadcast live on RTL 102.5.
For those who prefer the comfort of home, Rai 1 and Canale 5 offer two great live events. The coming year of Rai 1, broadcast from Reggio Calabria, will see on stage Diodato and Romina Power, while New Year’s Eve in Music of Channel 5, live from Catania, will propose artists such as Gigi D’Alessio, Orietta Berti and Paola & Chiara.
