Coldiretti and Campagna Amica lead the new global farmer food model
It will be a day entirely dedicated to the primacy of Italian agri-food and its strategic role for the country’s economy that is scheduled for Monday, June 30 in New York, on the occasion of the Summer Fancy Food Show. An event that lights up the spotlight on Italy as a reference model for sustainable and quality agriculture, capable of strengthening exports, supporting tourism and ensuring food security at a global level.
The initiative, promoted by Coldiretti, Campagna Amica and Filiera Italia, will be divided into two distinct moments, with the involvement of Italian peasant excellences in a dialogue with the American market.
The day will open at 10 am at the Farmers Market Grow NYC in Union Square, where there will be a confrontation between Italian and American farmers on good practices, excellence production and the value of peasant food in building a sustainable food system. To participate in the meeting, the president of the World Farmers Markets Coalition Richard McCarthy, the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini, the general secretary Vincenzo Gesmundo and the director of the Fondazione Campagna Amica Carmelo Troccoli. An opportunity that becomes a symbol of an alliance among farmers around the world, united by the goal of defending the quality and traceability of local products.
At 12.30, the works will move to the Italian Pavilion of the Javits Center (Level 3 – stand No. 2718) for a focus dedicated to “Italian geographical indications: a guarantee of quality for the US consumer”. After the opening entrusted to the secretary general of Coldiretti Vincenzo Gesmundo, will intervene Paolo De Castro, president of Filiera Italia, the general Maurizio Cintura, attaché of the Guardia di Finanza in Washington, Riccardo Deserti, president of Origin International, Erica Di Giovancarlo,
Director of the Ice Office in New York, Felice Assenza, head of Icqrf department, and Luigi Scordamaglia, managing director of Filiera Italia. Alessandro Schiatti, CEO of I Love Italian Food, an association committed to the promotion of authentic Italian food and wine culture abroad, will also bring his experience. The conclusions will be entrusted to the president of Coldiretti, Ettore Prandini.
The culmination of the day will be the signing of an agreement between Coldiretti and I Love Italian Food, which establishes the launch of joint projects to enhance and promote authentic Italian agri-food products on international markets, contrasting imitations and phenomena of Italian sounding.
