Each year the Fuorisalone is held in conjunction with the Milan Furniture Fair which comprises of a set of events dispersed in different areas of the city, representing an opportunity to reflect on design and creativity, through a series of performances that allow the wold of furniture to get out of its usual office spaces, and blend in with the urban fabric, becoming accessible to all. Just walk through the streets and alleys of the city in the area between Brera and Montenapoleone which is filled with galleries, showrooms, designer shops in order to breathe in a modern, colorful and refined postmodern Milan. It is precisely in Brera that Italian Traditions that has stopped to discover of the soul of one of the oldest and most fascinating neighborhoods of the city, but also the area for artistic excellence.
We wanted to recall the relationship between Milan and design through some of the most important and famous symbols of the city of Milan, such as the Museum of the twentieth century (Novecento), an interesting museum focused on twentieth century Italian sculpture and painting, the Vertical Forest also called “the most beautiful and innovative skyscraper in the world “, characterized by more than two thousand tree species distributed on prospectuses, and the controversial and provocative sculpture by artist-sculptor Maurizio Cattelan, L.O.V.E. The last stop in Milan was at the company Inedito Milano, which is characterized by the elegance and refinement of collections and products that are able to catch the evocative and magical side of Inedito beds.
Passing through the region of Trentino Alto Adige, we discovered the fabric and leather by Gyform leather, a company specializing in sofas, and the precious crystal chandeliers by the timeless Faustig. In Veneto, however, we met Federico de Majo and his company Zafferano, which creates and produces collections of wine glasses, colored glass and decoration all table objects. Speaking of design, we recall Via Garibaldi 12, an exclusive concept store with an international feel, located in the historic center of Genoa, with a space that’s opened to design, books, exhibitions and meetings. Where better than Sicily to end our itinerary to discover the tradition and uniqueness of Made in Italy? Here in the province of Messina, we discover innovation, experimentation and working of the stone brand Lithea.
