Journalist: could you tell us the story of how the brand Amen was born?
Giovanni Licastro: Amen was born from the desire to create something more than just a jewel. I wanted to combine the beauty of Italian craftsmanship with a deep and spiritual message. The name “Amen” itself is a statement of faith, an affirmation of something in which we firmly believe. The brand was born with the idea of offering a way to wear symbols of faith and spirituality every day, in an elegant and modern way.
Journalist: Spirituality seems to be a central element in your collections. Where does this connection between jewelry and faith come from?
Giovanni Licastro: What inspired my brand is the faith that has always been an important part of my life. This quote from the gospel, well embodies my philosophy: “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you”. (Jn 15,16). It is the Lord who has chosen us and not we who have chosen him. Jesus loves us, knows what our good is, what is the right way for us. On this principle I wanted to create something that could remind people of the values they believe in, not only on special occasions but every day. Our jewels are a way to carry with them a symbol of hope, protection, love. Each piece in our collection has a special meaning, which can be personal for the wearer or linked to a wider tradition.
Journalist: We recently saw the introduction of a jewel dedicated to Blessed Carlo Acutis. Can you tell us more about this choice?
Giovanni Licastro: Carlo Acutis is an extraordinary figure, especially for the young. It is an example of how faith can be lived in a simple yet powerful way, even in the digital age. We decided to dedicate a jewel to him to celebrate his beatification and to offer a symbol of inspiration and devotion to our clients. This jewel is not only a tribute to Carlo Acutis, but also an invitation to reflect on his message of faith lived with joy and authenticity.
Journalist: How do you see the future of the brand Amen? What are your goals for the next few years?
Giovanni Licastro: Our goal is to continue growing by keeping faith with our values. We want to expand our collection, introducing new designs that reflect changes in society and new forms of spirituality. We also aim to strengthen our international presence, bringing the message of Amen to the world. But more than anything else, we want to stay true to our mission of creating jewelry that speaks to people’s hearts.
