AI Hub – the Ministry launches the call for industrial growth, art and artificial intelligence – applications open until 25 May 2025

The AI Hub for Sustainable Development is a collaborative platform to accelerate sustainable industrial growth in Africa by harnessing AI responsibly. Created by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and African partners, the AI Hub focuses on strengthening local artificial intelligence ecosystems, The aim is to foster innovation and improve the quality of life in the target countries.

The AI Hub focuses on several priorities, including:

Improve access to high quality datasets relevant to local contexts

Closing the gap in specialist technical skills

Breaking down barriers to computing capacity

Creating an environment conducive to innovation

Priority sectors for progress are energy, agriculture, health, water, education and training, infrastructure, all in line with the Mattei Plan for Africa.

With the intention of inspiring industrial growth through art and AI, the AI Hub launches an open call to all those who wish to participate with artistic works generated by artificial intelligence. These works should reflect and visually translate the future potential of African industries and the crucial role of innovative partnerships in promoting sustainable development.

The call is addressed to artists, innovators, enthusiasts and visionaries from all over the world, in particular candidates from the Mattei Plan’s target countries: Algeria, Angola, Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania and Tunisia. Italy is also included in the call.

The selected works (one for each country) will be exhibited during the AI Hub launch event, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to global dialogues on the future of AI and industrial growth. In addition, these works will be visible on the AI Hub platform and could be used in communication and advocacy activities related to the AI Hub programs.

A jury of experts in art, creative design, human development, digital transformation and artificial intelligence will examine all entries. Selection criteria will include innovation in the use of AI, artistic quality, consistency with the theme of the industrial future and contribution to visibility of priority areas.

Requirements for participation

Applications must be submitted by 25 May 2025 at 23:59 (EST). To participate, applicants must:

Provide a title of the work (maximum 5 words)

Write a short description (maximum 150 words) including the theme, motivation, industry sector and country represented

Indicate the IA tool used to create the work
