Modica is ready to transform itself into the capital of culinary creativity for an entire weekend
sicilian. From 5 to 7 September 2025, one of the
most anticipated stops on Sicily Food Vibes, the traveling event that is crossing the island celebrating the
flavours, products and faces of the Sicilian gastronomic tradition, to celebrate a great milestone:
Sicily European Gastronomic Region 2025. The initiative, promoted by the department
of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries of the Sicilian Region – with the
organizational contribution of the Municipality of Modica – and in collaboration with the Regional Union
Sicilian Chefs (URCS) and the Iblean Chefs Association, is much more than a mere review
food and wine. It is an invitation to discover the Sicilian identity through signature dishes, produced by the miles
zero, educational workshops, show cooking and masterclasses that will intrigue professionals so much
in the sector as much as cooking enthusiasts.

It begins on Friday, September 5, at 8 pm with the official inauguration in the presence of the authorities
local and regional. From then on it will be a succession of tasting experiences: chef Claudio Fidone
he will open the dance with a workshop on “Carob-scented porchetta slice”, followed by
pastry chef Andrea Giannone who will guide those present to discover the “Bedda Sicilia”, one
revisited cheesecake with ricotta, Modica PGI chocolate, carob and citrus fruits. It will then be up to
Federico Di Rosa once again enhances the famous local chocolate with “Sfizi Golosi”, in collaboration
with the Modica PGI Chocolate Consortium. Followed by chef Giovanni’s cooking shows
Dragonetti and Graziano Barone, with dishes that blend popular tradition and refined technique.
Saturday 6 September continues with new sweet and savory suggestions: the pastry chef Antonio Pitino
he will conduct a workshop on “Fruttini di riposto” with almond, lemon and carob, while Matteo
Barone will stage a masterclass on PGI carob and blood orange ice cream. Space then
to the creativity of Concetto Cicero and Andrea Giannone with a “Pearl of Modica” shortcrust pastry-based
carob, creamy mpanatigghia and crunchy chocolate icing. Rita will close the evening
Russotto and Enrico Russino with an author’s omelette that combines sea, land and spices.
Grand finale on Sunday 7 September with one of the most anticipated events: the chef’s cooking show
Lorenzo Ruta of the Ruta Restaurant, who will offer a Mediterranean-inspired dish with “Tomato,
spice mix with marinated mullet and citrus ponzu sauce, accompanied by herbal salad
spontaneous”. A contemporary interpretation of Sicilian cuisine that encompasses the sense itself
about this event: telling the story of a Sicily that knows how to innovate without ever losing its roots.
