The Christmas tree, the most iconic in Italy

The Christmas tree is a tradition in Italy and in the world, symbol par excellence of the Christmas holidays.

Let’s find out which are the most iconic Christmas trees in the main cities of Italy!

Gubbio’s Christmas tree, the largest in the world

Now in its forty-fourth ignition, the Gubbio Christmas tree of 2024 will have as a testimonial the National Corps of the Fire Brigade.

The National Corps of Firemen, born in 1939, perfectly represents the value of collaboration, sacrifice and sharing of ideals and principles aimed at ensuring the safety of others, all virtues that are married with the spirit of Christmas.

So, to pay tribute to their commitment, in Gubbio they wanted strongly their presence for the lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree that took place last December 7 in Piazza 40 Martyrs.

The event, which began at 17.30, was attended by the Flag Wavers of the City of Gubbio who opened the evening with their exciting performance.

It was a very busy evening, with great musical guests. Also, for the first time, participants were able to attend the performance of children and boys of the Choir of “Golden Grillo” of Pesaro, directed by Maestro Gabriele Foschi.

A very special event thanks to the artistic direction of Fabio Vagnarelli.

The most iconic Christmas trees in the capital

As every year, Rome is illuminated for the holidays with lights, installations and trees scattered throughout the city.

A few days ago, in Piazza di Spagna, the Bulgari Christmas tree was lit: for the fourth consecutive year, the haute couture house has put its signature on the lights of the city center and on the tree in Piazza di Spagna but not only. This year, twenty suburbs also received the Bulgari tree.

The lighting of the tree in Piazza di Spagna was inaugurated with an opening ceremony that saw, among its guests, the mayor of the city, the CEO of the Bulgari Group and two important faces of Italian cinema: Carolina Crescentini and Alessandro Gassmann.

This year’s tree, made from recycled materials, is low on environmental impact and allows energy savings of over 75%.

Its design is inspired by the iconic snake of the Bulgari jewelry: it is in fact a tree shaped ellipses, made of plexiglass glass effect, which develops upwards following a brass spiral wrapped by a metallic mesh color gold. On top, as a point, an eight-pointed star, symbol of cosmic balance.

From the Spanish Steps we move to the People’s Square which this year will be decorated with a twenty-two meters high Caucasus fir.

In St Peter’s Square, instead, the lighting ceremony took place, as per tradition, on 8 December. The event, which began at 18.30, was preceded by the opening of the initiative “Nativity of Bethlehem 2024”, a set of representations of the birth of Jesus made by the hands of Italian artisans.
