Autumn is the time of the year when Nature shows us all its surprising colors and shades. In the same way, after the dazzling summer season many Italian cities are full of suggestive and colorful attractions of unquestionable charm, adding extra appeal to the places which are an absolute must to visit.
Here we offer a review of the most colorful Italian cities in the autumn season. An opportunity to discover or rediscover some of the most beautiful places in Italy.
Torino
Autumn is a good excuse to visit – but also to return to – the city of Turin. Its regal and slightly melancholic elegance is exalted during this season, enhancing the charm of its arcades and its historic center. And then, how can we forget its most famous chocolates, the Gianduiotti, and the great attraction of one of the finest Italian cuisines?

Bolzano
The capital of Trentino Alto Adige is a destination full of charm even in the fall, and not just during the Christmas period. The city, rich in culture and beauty, is also attractive for the possible excursions to the surrounding areas, and is ideal for holidays or weekends with the family. The charm of Bolzano is completed by the excellent food and wine on offer and the great mountain culture and traditions.
Verona
The city of Romeo and Juliet enchants with its architectural beauty with a touch of “romanticism”. Piazza delle Erbe, the Roman Arena and the splendid historic center take on fascinating colors and tones. Beautiful days can still be spent outdoors and, why not take the opportunity to taste exquisite wines such as Valpolicella and Bardolino.
Florence
In autumn Florence expresses its elegant and ancient beauty in the best possible way. The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and all its splendid monuments are enhanced by the golden autumn light. An ideal destination for those who love art, beauty and the pleasures of good food.
Lucca

The Tuscan town is famous for its walls, for the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and for the splendid Duomo. But it all deserves to be explored, discovering churches, museums and beautiful ancient architecture. And to be observed from above, climbing to the top of the Torre delle Ore or to the Torre Guinigi.
Pitigliano
Remaining in Tuscany, in the province of Grosseto, we would like to mention Pitigliano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Pitigliano boasts an ancient history – it dates back to the Etruscan time – and is entirely built in the tufo of the hill on which it stands, completely surrounded by woodlands. A fascinating place, which preserves all its ancient charm.
Assisi
Harmony, peace and beauty. These are just three words associated with Assisi, the city of San Francesco. Here the medieval streets and architecture and silence transmit serenity and peace. Autumn is the ideal moment to fully appreciate the traces left here by artists such as Giotto and Cimabue, but also to taste some exquisite local products: porcini mushrooms, pumpkins and chestnuts.
Pacentro
In Abruzzo, Pacentro is a small town linked to an ancient history, immersed in the Majella National Park. It is part of the number of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and is distinguished by the dramatic impact of the towers of the Caldora Castle – Cantelmo. Around which steep streets intersect. Ideal to alternate a mountain hike with a visit to a local taverna.
Roma
The capital of Italy, famous for the so-called “ottobrate romane” – days traditionally dedicated to Sunday outings during the period at the end of the grape harvest – best expresses its beauty. The mild climate of the period makes it a welcoming place to spend time even outdoors.
