Every corner, every coastline, every glimpse of Sicily deserves a special mention, even just for its history and for the cultural heritage it preserves inside. For this reason it is really difficult to select only 10 beaches calling them “the most beautiful”.
However, given that in some cases the time available is not a lot and you are (unfortunately) forced to choose, here are the 10 Sicilian beaches not to be missed during a stay in the beautiful island!
Mondello, Palermo
The first beach that can certainly not miss in the top 10 is that of Mondello, in Palermo, city symbol of Sicilian history. Just 11 kilometers from the historic center is this large bay enclosed between Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo, where you can lie in the sun on fine golden sand and bathe in crystal clear waters. Before returning home, then, you can always walk through the beautiful Art Nouveau streets dating back to the twentieth century.
Scopello, Trapani
Not too far from Palermo is Trapani, small and cozy, which offers the wonderful beach of Scopello: full of coves that open on the rocks overlooking the sea, is characterized by transparent waters and beaches of sand and gravel. In the background you can admire the stacks, located right in front of the old trap, and the seabed particularly suitable for those who love snorkeling and diving.

Zingaro Nature Reserve, Trapani
Staying in Trapani and covering just a few kilometers you get to the pristine beach between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo, within the natural area Zingaro Reserve. It is a real paradise, suitable both for those who love the sea, and for those who prefer trekking and outdoor excursions. Along specific paths, you can reach the beaches and coves, in particular Cala Tonnarella dell’Uzzo and Cala Capreria.
San Vito lo Capo, Trapani
While you are in Trapani, a trip to the beach of San Vito Lo Capo is practically mandatory. Located in the north-western tip of Sicily, it represents an enchantment of nature: a bay close to the mountain, with a crystal clear sea that bathes a beach composed of fine white sand, against a background of houses with a typical maritime appearance. During your stay, we recommend visiting the Museum of the Sea.
Cala Rossa, Egadi Islands, Trapani
Before leaving Trapani can be interesting to make a tour between the Egadi Islands and stop in particular in Favignana, which is about 7 kilometers from the coast between Marsala and Trapani. Its most beautiful beach is Cala Rossa, famous for being the battlefield of a battle between the Romans and Carthaginians in the past, while today it is a corner of paradise accessible both by sea and by land via a narrow path as picturesque. Once arrived, you just have to dive into the sea and enjoy the breathtaking landscape.
Staircase of the Turks, Agrigento
For those who want to combine love for the sea with architectural interest, the city of Agrigento is definitely the ideal destination; here is the Scala dei Turchi, close to a majestic and very white marl cliff that drops to the emerald sea. Just walk on the sandy coast to enter, then, the cliff characterized by cavities that can be used as real natural armchairs, extremely comfortable for sunbathing!

Island of Rabbits, Lampedusa, Agrigento
From Agrigento, then, it is recommended to move to one of the most fascinating smaller islands in Italy: it is Lampedusa, which hosts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, namely the Island of Rabbits. Totally rocky and surrounded by waters halfway between cobalt blue and emerald green, the beach is a protected natural reserve where turtles Caretta Caretta come every year to lay their eggs. Sunbathing, bathing and building sand castles here has a different flavor.
Calamosche, Syracuse
On the other side of Sicily, therefore in the east, the city of Syracuse is distinguished both by its Greek past (clearly visible in its architecture), both for its wonderful beaches. These include Calamosche, with vivid and intense waters perfect for diving and fine golden sand. Its 200 meters of extension are between two rocky headlands that keep the sea constantly calm, so suitable for children. During your stay, it is recommended to visit the whole nature reserve of Vendicari, between Noto and Pachino, famous for birdwatching.
White Fountains, Syracuse
Not only Calamosche; also Fontane Bianche is among the most beautiful beaches in Sicily, especially because of its decidedly Caribbean appearance. Just 10 kilometers from the center of Syracuse, the beach takes its name from the freshwater fountains in the area and has crystal clear sand and crystal clear sea, just like those of the tropics. Here you will also find the protected marine area of Plemmirio, where you can practice many water sports and play freely children in total safety.
Isola Bella, Taormina, Messina
Finally, in conclusion of this top 10 of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily, impossible not to mention one of the most famous Sicilian destinations: Taormina with the beautiful Isola Bella, a place of great natural value, with a crystal clear sea that can almost mirror. Recommended, during your stay, a boat trip around the island to admire the Bay of Naxos, the Blue Grotto and the Cave of the Shell.
