Alta Badia at the end of February – sport, nature and tradition in the heart of the Dolomites

Located in the heart of the Dolomites, Alta Badia is an ideal destination for those who want to combine winter sports, natural beauty and culinary traditions of South Tyrol. At the end of February, the valley offers a wide range of activities for both ski enthusiasts and those who prefer other experiences.

Landscapes and ski slopes

Alta Badia is part of the Dolomiti Superski area, boasting more than 1,200 km of interconnected slopes. Its descents, suitable for both beginners and experts, are surrounded by breathtaking views, with snowy peaks that stand out against the clear skies. The resorts of Corvara, La Villa and San Cassiano offer direct access to these impeccably prepared slopes.

Traditional cuisine and gourmet refuges

The Ladin culinary tradition is a distinctive element of Alta Badia. Many mountain huts offer typical dishes, such as the “cajinci t’ega” (stuffed ravioli) and the “panicia” (barley soup).

For a refined gastronomic experience, the Club Moritzino, located 2,100 meters on the Piz La Ila, is renowned for its gourmet cuisine and après-ski events.

Another unmissable stop is the Pralongià Hut, which offers Ladin specialties in a welcoming environment with panoramic views of the Dolomites.

Alternative activities for non-skiers

For those who do not ski, Alta Badia offers several alternatives:

Winter hiking and snowshoeing: over 80 km of marked trails allow you to immerse yourself in unspoiled nature, exploring snow-covered forests and highlands with spectacular views.

Horse-drawn carriage rides: A romantic and suggestive experience, ideal for admiring the snowy landscapes in complete relaxation.

Cross-country skiing: The Armentarola cross-country ski centre offers perfectly groomed slopes, immersed in natural scenery of rare beauty.

Events and demonstrations

At the end of February, Alta Badia hosts several events that celebrate local culture and traditions. Among them, the “Bun de Gran Risa”, an event that combines sports and gastronomy, offering participants the opportunity to taste typical products after a morning skiing on the famous Gran Risa slope.

Alta Badia, with its combination of breathtaking landscapes, culinary excellence and a wide range of activities, is an unmissable destination for those who want to live an authentic experience in the Dolomites at the end of February.
