Gaeta, the wonderful beaches and the blue sea

One of the reasons why many choose Gaeta as their holiday destination are its magnificent beaches, one more beautiful than the other. There are seven of them even if the most famous is the Serapo beach, not far from the centre and in the vicinity of which you can find many services, including bars, restaurants, supermarkets and public gardens.

Here the sand is fine and there are several beaches that alternate with free beaches, the waters always clear and sparkling.

Sant’Agostino beach, the longest of all, has a very fascinating scenery and is the ideal place to try your hand at rock climbing. The sand is mixed with some rocks and it is possible to find several bathing establishments.

In its surroundings, moreover, there are campsites where you can stop with your own tent or caravan or rent a bungalow. Continue with the San Vito beach, very suggestive, which can only be reached from the sea.

The sand is very fine and offers a beach volleyball court, games and entertainment service to entertain even the little ones. But it is also the ideal place for those who love diving and snorkeling.

Even the Ariana beach, a small bay in the middle of the sea, has its charm and even if it is almost entirely occupied by private establishments, there are some small free spots. In its surroundings there is no shortage of resorts, campsites and holiday homes.

Finally, there are the 40 Remi beach and the Fontania beach, two other magnificent places where it is worth stopping. The first can be reached by boat or by swimming and is the ideal place to indulge in relaxation in the midst of nature or go diving.

The second has a very interesting history and is the place where the villa of the Roman consul Gneo Fonteo once stood. Right on the seabed you can still admire the remains of the dwelling and a very rich habitat.

For many years the beaches of Gaeta have been Blue Flag.

Gaeta and its typical recipes to be enjoyed on vacation

Among the many accommodation facilities present in the heart of the beautiful Gaeta to choose from, such as Bed & Breakfast, hotel and Relais and which also allow access to 4-legged friends, its excellent cuisine cannot be overlooked.

Among the delights of the place stand out the famous black olives that lend themselves to many typical recipes of the place and the tiella, a savory pie filled with octopus, anchovies, onion, endive and cod to be enjoyed cold or warm, even if it can be filled to your liking.

Delicious is also the caniscione, a fried panzerotto generally prepared with the same ingredients as the tiella, the chicory seasoned with salt, oil and vinegar and the artichokes and potatoes in a pan .
