The history of Lake Tramonti

The lake of Tramonti or Redona was built in 1951 through the barrier of the Meduna River. The dome dam below allows the production of electricity from the hydroelectric power plant of Torviscosa and irrigate the fields of the plain. The intervention involved the flooding of three villages: Movada, Fleur and Redona Vecchia.

During the dry period of the lake or in case of prolonged drought, the remains of these towns re-emerge and allow you to discover the past of these places.

As in all the submerged villages these too are inhabited by a legend. It is said that even today among the remains of Movada it is possible to meet the ghost of the village priest, Don Basilio. Wandering among the remains of the buildings to defend them from erosion and to preserve their history, while a witch tries to make the ruins disappear permanently.
