Here’s what to see in Italy in autumn
In Italy there are places that during the autumn season have a particular atmosphere like the small villages where time seems to have stopped. Autumn is the season when warm colors of falling leaves are predominant, creating something magical.
At this time of year, the historic Italian villages offer suggestive views and offer the possibility of living unique experiences in contact with nature. From north to south there are many small countries that deserve to be discovered for their culture and history.
The villages to visit in northern Italy in autumn

In Lombardy is located Bienno a small village of the Val Camonica which is considered as one of the most beautiful places in the region. Liguria in autumn: the villages to see
In Liguria there is a small village surrounded by nature and which is protected by the Maritime Alps. It is Apricale which is located in the part of the region near the border with France in the province of Imperia. It is one of the most beautiful historical villages in Italy. During the months of October and November, the harvest is made and it is possible to visit the cellars of these small villages.
Autumn in Italy: the villages of Emilia Romagna and Tuscany
In Emilia Romagna there is a village perched on the hills of the province of Modena that deserves to be visited during the autumn. This village is Castelvetro di Modena which is surrounded by vineyards. Also in this region there are the wonderful villages of the Val Conca that during the autumn offer unique landscapes. These are the villages of San Giovanni in Marignano, Saludecio, Mondaino, Montegridolfo and Montefiore Conca.
The interesting aspect is that you can visit along about ninety kilometers of hilly roads that offer views of enchanting landscapes this season. In Tuscany one of the most fascinating villages is undoubtedly that of Pienza in Val d’Orcia. This is the ideal city of the Tuscan Renaissance period and is located between soft and sinuous hills.
The view is so beautiful that it looks like a painting. Another village to visit in this region is that of Assisi, which is located in the north-western part of Mount Subasio. Here you can take wonderful walks in the park through a route that connects Assisi with Spello.
The villages to discover in autumn in central and southern Italy
Abruzzo is another Italian region where you can find one of the most beautiful villages in Italy to visit in autumn. It is Scanno in the province of L’Aquila. The road leading to the village offers sensational views of the Sagittario Reserve and Lake Scanno. Cusano Mutri is another Italian village that deserves to be visited in the autumn.
This small medieval village has a wonderful old town and exceptional natural landscapes.
