Heirs of Excellence column

Stories of men who did business

Italian Tradition celebrates the entrepreneurial figures who have written the history of our country, men
who with vision and courage made the name of Italy great in the world. In this column
let us remember their exploits, so that they are an example and inspiration for the present generations and
future. Today we pay homage to Serafino Allemano, master of automotive design and
protagonist of an unrepeatable era.

There are men who have not only built cars, but have been able to shape
an era, transforming mechanics into beauty and design into universal language. Seraphim
Allemano belongs to this small circle of visionaries: entrepreneurs who have left a
an indelible sign, capable of making Turin one of the world capitals of the automobile.

The origins of a dream

It was 1928 when Serafino Allemano founded Carrozzeria in Turin, in via Orto Botanico
Allemano. In an Italy marked by the economic challenges of the time, he had the courage to look beyond
mechanical repair and investing in what was then intuition for a few: the
customization and creation of custom-built cars. A choice that made him the protagonist over the years
Thirty, in a period in which the whole world was preparing to experience the crisis of 1929.
The art of custom-built cars
The war interrupted the dream, but did not extinguish it. At the end of the conflict, Serafino Allemano learned
bringing its bodywork back to life, transforming every car into a work of art. Starting from Ferrari
166, created in collaboration with Giovanni Michelotti, up to the elegant Fiat 1100 coupés and
cabriolet from 1954, passing through the refined Lancia Aurelia cabriolet, each creation carried its own
signature: elegant lines, balance between innovation and tradition, exclusivityIt wasn’t just technique: it was
art. The car became a tailor-made suit, designed to distinguish who drove it and who drove it
he owned.

Prestigious collaborations

Allemano soon became an international name. Its bodies dressed Fiat models,
Lancia, Abarth and Renault, and even conquered the French market with the Panhard Dyna 750
Coupe and the Renault Dauphine cabriolet. The orders also came from the United Kingdom, with
Jaguar and Aston Martin, until reaching Japan, where two prototypes brought the Turin style
overseas.
The most iconic link remains with Maserati: from the A6G 2000 to the legendary 3500 GT and 5000
GT, the Allemano custom-built cars were able to combine power and beauty, conquering shows
internationals and collectors from all over the world.
The legacy of Serafino Allemano
The years between 1959 and 1961 were the pinnacle of this epic: the Fiat 1500 coupés and cabriolets,
presented at the Turin Motor Show, they established the company among the protagonists of automotive design.
Then, with the beginning of the sixties, the evolution of the market and the commercial crisis marked the
end of Carrozzeria Allemano, which ceased operations in 1965.

But his legacy has never died down. Together with masters such as Pininfarina, Bertone, Vignale and
Michelotti, Serafino Allemano helped write one of the brightest pages in industry
italian, making Turin the world capital of automotive design.

A timeless lesson

Remembering Serafino Allemano means celebrating not only an entrepreneur, but a visionary who has
able to see beyond steel and engines. His creations were not simple cars: they were
symbols of courage, craftsmanship and Italian identity. Its history remains an example for
today’s entrepreneurs: innovating does not just mean responding to the market, but having the strength to
turning an idea into an indelible mark.
In a time when speed consumes and innovation often burns the roots, Serafino Allemano there
remember that the true future comes from those who dare to transform metal into emotion. This is the lesson
which today’s entrepreneurs cannot forget: excellence is not only measured in numbers, but
in the ability to leave an eternal mark.
