With its high and rocky coasts, the Conero Riviera is one of the must-see destinations for summer 2022. With its landscapes, beaches and beauty to discover, this destination will leave you truly enchanted.
The Riviera del Conero is that stretch of coast between the city of Ancona and that of Numana, where Mount Conero gives life to the famous promontory overlooking the sea, creating a breathtaking and evocative landscape that extends for about twenty kilometers.
The Conero Regional Park and the association Riviera del Conero and Colli dell’Infinito
The entire territory of the Conero Riviera falls under the protection of the Conero Regional Park, the first regional park established in the Marche region. The area is carefully protected in order to preserve local fauna and flora, to leave the landscape as untouched and unspoiled as possible.
Because of this careful preservation of nature, in 2018 the Marche Region has started the practices for the inclusion of the Conero Riviera within the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Over time, then, some local municipalities have partnered with the aim of promoting local tourism. Among these, in the province of Ancona, also the city of Recanati, birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi who still houses his ancient home and what we all know as Colle dell’Infinito.
The other municipalities belonging to the association Riviera del Conero and Colli dell’Infinito are Potenza Picena, Loreto, Castelfidardo, Osimo, Filottrano, Montefano, Offana, Agugliano, Polverigi and Santa Maria Nuova.
Riviera del Conero: what to see and what to visit
The Riviera del Conero hosts many natural and cultural attractions that will fill your days making you literally forget about anything else.
For lovers of the sea, of course, the coast offers equipped and long beaches typical of the Adriatic coast, with bike paths, restaurants and clubs, thus satisfying the needs of all. The seabed, in this stretch of coast, is less sandy and more rocky, thus making the water clearer.
As for art lovers, however, the Conero Riviera hosts many sites of historical and artistic interest. Let’s start from the city of Ancona, an important port city rich in history that houses several well-known museums, including the National Archaeological Museum of the Marche, the Pinacoteca civica Francesco Podesti, the Homer Museum, the Diocesan Museum and the imposing Cathedral of Ancona.
Also nearby, other sites of historical and artistic interest that is worth mentioning are the Napoleonic Fort and the Torre di Guardia — both in Portonovo — the Caves of Camerano, Pesaro and the historic center of Sirolo. Last but not least, the historic center of Recanati, also known as the City of Infinity where, through the streets of the medieval village, literature lovers can retrace the life of Giacomo Leopardi in all its nuances.
Where to sleep in the Conero Riviera: targeted tips
We now move on to the biggest of the questions: where should I go to sleep in the Riviera del Conero? The answer, again this time, is always in your needs. The area is optimally equipped with facilities of all types.
If you want to spend a relaxing holiday by the sea, simply choose one of the facilities located on the coast, usually equipped with private beach and which include beach service in the rate.
If instead the idea is to stay a little more ‘cool, away from the chaos of the beaches and the heat of the sea, you can consider staying in a structure located a little ‘more’ altitude. Here, in addition to very large hotels, there are also several farms and bed and breakfast very traditional looking and that will give the emotion of feeling at home.
