This year the 2nd of Jue weekend will offer four days of «freedom» to organize a mini vacation, with the possibility of choosing the most beautiful destinations in Italy in the name of the sea, nature or culture. The Republic Day is an opportunity to switch off and enjoy some relaxation and fun outside the city and since it will fall on a Thursday, the days available are enough to start thinking about where to spend them among the many wonderful places of the Bel Paese.

At sea, in the mountains or around visiting cities and monuments, there are so many ideas, without forgetting the importance of this day which marked the end of the monarchy and the beginning of the Republic with a referendum.
2nd of June at the sea or on the lake?
There are so many ideas to spend this long weekend away from the usual daily grind, alone or with the family, starting with the seaside places that in Italy, from North to South, are so many and ready to satisfy every type of request and requirement.
Salento is one of the destinations that offers a crystalline sea, shallow waters and spectacular views for a first taste of summer. Especially on the Ionian coast, in fact, it is possible to find expanses of white sand and shallow waters suitable for entertaining even children.

There is no shortage of very suggestive coves surrounded by dense vegetation, where you can enjoy the most complete relaxation basking in the first warm sun of June, without having to give up the services offered by the bathing establishments on site. In Gallipoli, for example, there are easily accessible beaches suitable for younger guests, who can play safely and quietly. Another ideal destination to spend this long weekend by the sea is the Cilento coast, where you can enjoy wonderful natural landscapes by taking a boat trip.

In both locations there is no shortage of hotels, camping sites, bed & breakfasts where you can stay and also enjoy a walk in the center of characteristic and picturesque villages.
The lake is the destination for a long weekend of celebration
The Italian lakes also have their own charm and are an excellent alternative to the sea. On the occasion of the long weekend for the Republic Day, the beautiful Lake Garda is another destination not to be underestimated.

Here there are so many delightful villages to visit that overlook the huge body of water and those who love an active holiday certainly cannot miss the opportunity to visit the area through horseback riding or cycling.
Moreover, fans of extreme sports can try their hand at paragliding on Monte Baldo. There are many attractions to entertain your children, first of all Mirabilandia, a must for those who choose this lake for their short vacation.

Fun aside, what better occasion than this to try the typical local dishes, such as bigoli with sardines, carne salada or even the excellent lake fish? Of course, all rigorously washed down with the local DOC wines.
June 2nd between nature and culture
The long weekend at the beginning of June is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the quiet surrounded by nature and the mild climate of this period. There are so many mountain places in Italy, one more beautiful than the other, starting with the Dolomites.

The views to be admired here are of inestimable beauty, as are the many paths surrounded by greenery to be covered on foot, by bike or in the saddle. But not only that, because there are characteristic places to be discovered, such as Auronzo del Cadore, a delightful town to be discovered by walking through its typical alleys,

And between one tour and the next, you cannot miss the taste of the famous potato gnocchi all’auronzan or the traditional pastin, similar to a hamburger of pork and beef flavored and minced together with lard.
The long weekend of celebration between art, churches and monuments
The four days of this long weekend are enough to learn more about the history of one of the many Italian cities of art. There is truly a lot of choice, because they all have something to tell. The wonderful Florence is one of these, a real open-air museum full of historical monuments and buildings, churches and art galleries. From Giotto’s Bell Tower, to the Baptistery of San Giovanni and to continue with the Palazzo della Signoria, the cultural beauties are truly innumerable.

A perfect mini vacation also for families, who through guided tours will be able to introduce their children to all the secrets of ancient Florentia. In the Tuscan capital there is certainly no shortage of various possibilities of stay, from the most renowned hotels, pensions or comfortable Bed & Breakfasts.
