Do you want to learn about one of the most important cultural events taking place in Italy at this time of year? This is the article you were looking for as here Italian Traditions will present the International Book Fair in Turin. Here we give you information about the event and its history. We will also present the appointments and events scheduled for this edition. Finally we will explain how to get to the fair and how to buy entrance tickets.
The book fair is an event that takes place every year and is organized by the Book, Music and Culture Foundation of Turin. Its formula makes it unique within the international panorama related to professional fairs. This also distinguishes it from the numerous literary and cultural festivals that take place all over the world. Every year 14000 meetings are held within the event with the presence of 2000 guests. This is the main and most important event in Italy dedicated to publishing, reading and culture.
But that’s not all, in fact the fair is the largest bookstore you can find. Here, in fact, there are stands of the main national and international publishers that allow the public to purchase their publications. The most interesting aspect concerns the fact that medium-sized and large publishers have the same visibility inside the event.
The international book fair in Turin is also a very important cultural festival. There are many appointments, meetings and shows that take place during the five days of the event.
The exhibition was born in 1986 from an idea of Angelo Pezzana, a Turin bookseller, and Guido Accornero, an entrepreneur also from Turin. The first edition took place in 1988 during the Turin exhibitions. One of the most interesting features of the event since it began is the presence of an annual theme. This is the common thread that unites the main conferences that take place inside the fair. The theme of the first edition was: Brief instructions for a compass.
In 1998, in order to overcome the economic and organizational difficulties, the fair was taken over by the Piedmont region, the Province of Turin and the city of Turin. Its promotion and cultural project was entrusted to the Book, Music and Culture Foundation. The event changed and became a book fair. In 2001 the tradition of hosting a foreign country is inaugurated every year. Since 2010, after years of great growth, it has taken its original name and is called the International Book Fair. This year’s theme is: One day, all this.
