Il Rifugio di Artemide, The "Other" Agritourism

 

Today Italian Traditions brings you in the province of Imperia, between Sanremo and Montecarlo, 8 kilometers from the blue flag beaches of Bordighera and Camporosso. This small but unmissable Ligurian agritourism is managed by Cinzia Scarpini, tour guide, sommelier, former Scout and Slow food cook that, after a career as translator in Heidelberg, she returned to Italy with the desire to change his life. The quest for peace will lead her first to a cooking class, then to several internships in the restaurants of the area, until the opening of the current structure, a restored country house surrounded by five hectares of land including vineyards and olive groves, the former home of his parents. Il Rifugio di Artemide welcomes its guests in four thematic double rooms simply furnished and characterized by a romantic and bucolic atmosphere. They are all equipped with an outdoor area, a furnished private garden, which allows you to enjoy and admire nature and the view framed by; within them, an original painting with the flowers from which they derive their names (The Windmills, The calle, Tulips and Poppies). 

Inside the villa, there is the Artemide apartment which offer accommodation for 7-8 persons and is composed of a living area with kitchen and a large terrace overlooking the town and even a solarium and an area designed for children.

The kitchen of the farm Il Rifugio di Artemide wants to celebrate the traditional Ligurian gastronomy with clear references to the Provençal one but also an ethnic cuisine. In the dining room of the farm guests are delighted with the aromas and flavors of the vegetables and seasonal fruits, through dishes that look like paintings, made with fresh and wholesome ingredients.

Among the tasty dishes that Il Rifugio di Artemide brings to the table, we suggest you the borage ravioli with butter and sage, the rabbit Etruscan, and among the sweets prepared with flair and creative imagination, deserve special mention the "Montecarlo Sunset" and "Tramonto su Monte Carlo", two desserts among the most popular of the house. From the numerous trips that Cinzia has undertaken during his life they arise ideas and influences that contaminate the gastronomic offer of the farm; from Nepal and Sri Lanka, for example, comes the love for spices, from the Caribbean a particular way of preparing meat and grilled fish, and from Japan the use of the technique of tempura, its typical lightly and crispy frying. A real satisfaction of the senses for the tourist who chooses to stay in this special country house. To embellish the property two forests, two vineyards, olive groves, streams and a small spring in the undergrowth where you can also do Kneipp therapy.

Il Rifugio di Artemide offers B&B service and, upon request, half board or full board and many extras: from morning gym to trekking, from guided tours on the French Riviera to relaxing massages, up to thematic paths on medicinal herbs, on Celtic springs, on the art of dry stone walls. Also an educational farm, the farm has also a license for camping, areas for paintball, adventure camps and routes for archers.

Sometimes aided by her mother and the eldest son and supported by the presence of her three donkeys, Skizzo, Jenny and Spillo, Cinzia runs the farm bringing enthusiasm in every aspect of his work, having a special care and attention to the people who stay here, offering all the comforts lovingly pampered and welcomed.
