We’re talking about the Lucca Comics & Games, the most awaited Italian event by people fond of comics and video games!

Edition 2016 takes place as usual over the weekend of Halloween, that is from Friday, October 28 to Tuesday, November 1. It’ll be very special edition that will last, exceptionally, 5 days to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event. The fair was indeed created in 1966, and to celebrate this golden anniversary with the city, the theme Gold was chosen. Starting from the Golden Globe, a structure that will occupy one of the main squares of the city and that will be accessed through a corridor of statues which represent fifty years of cartoon characters. Further, a commemorative stamp granted by the Ministry of Productive Activities and the possible enlargement of the squares occupied by the stand, always in accordance with the exhibitors.

And, for an historical event that makes modernity one of its strong points, only today’s most popular Italian cartoonist could have been chosen to design and autograph the cover of it. The signature of 2016 is named Zerocalcare, aka Michael Rech which, for the occasion, has represented a black & white super-heroine, with a clock tower tattooed on her chest and gold accessories, the only colored element of the show, as to remember the 50th anniversary of the event.

Lucca Comics & Games deals with many areas of the city: the walls, the area of the Carducci Hall just outside the walls themselves, the main squares of the city occupied by pavilions and stands (mostly comics), some buildings and a mega stage.

In addition to the exhibition of Zerocalcare, this years edition will also host three cartoon masters, with free exhibitions personally dedicated to them. We’re talking about Frank Cho, the American author of Liberty Meadows and column of Marvel, Spanish Joan Cornellà, which elaborates in childish pop falsely corrosive and provocative themes, and finally the Italian Andrea "Casty" Castellan, author and designer of Cattivik and Lupo Alberto in the past and Mickey Mouse today. An exhibition will be dedicated to each of them at the Palazzo Ducale. Then, also this year, the pavilion Carducci, entirely dedicated to board games, awaits you with its 12 thousand square meters and over 300 tables where you can experience the year’s novelties, the two titles awarded by the jury of Lucca, The Game of the Year 2016 Potion Explosion and the Role-Playing Game of the Year 2016 Alba di Cthulhu.

On the medieval walls of Lucca, will take place the largest trade section in Europe dedicated to live action role-playing and historical reconstruction, The Citadel, while the entire north-east of Lucca's historic center will be occupied by the Japan Town, which this year devotes more space to stands of action figures, clothes for cosplay, objects and everything that represents the Rising Sun, including the cuisine. Do not miss also the appointments with films and television related to the fantasy world, which has now become an indispensable part of the Lucca Comics & Games. For this edition the Praetorian loggia in Piazza San Michele remains the center of the Movie area, which also involves the surrounding squares. Among the various events stands out the preview of One Piece Gold, first feature film bound to the famous pirate manga.
