It’s a favourite place among cyclists and it’s close to hiking and cross-country skiing trails, if you like downhill it’s not far either or… you can just relax. The house you’ll be staying in is over 100 years old and it is one of a series of houses found all over Italy which were built for road maintenance. Casello Margherita is the first of such houses in Calabria to be converted into a rifugio.
The rifugio is run by Simone and Eduardo. Simone is Canadian and Eduardo is Italian, you can therefore expect the best of both worlds, you can enjoy a traditional Calabrian meal or a more International one, such as our brunch menu. They pride themselves in offering the best service and the best quality of food.
Eduardo has been a nature and excursion guide for many years, Simone moved to Calabria from Canada in 2003 and has been teaching English. They are also members of Il sentiero which offers tourists services and English Summer Camps.
